( WE LOVE IT THERE), but our dog nearly died. The vet in Kamloops figured he'd eaten a drug left in the campsite but we have since discovered that it was probably the Lake Bloom. There is NO signage anywhere about this but people need to be educated. I have called Tunkwa campsite and left a message to inform them.

Great hosts, good cabins. Good camping. Clean showers and decent amenities as promised. Fishing information is up to the minute and accurate.

Cooler fall water temperatures and weather should alleviate the threat, but for the time being we'd strongly advise keeping kids and pets away from contact with the lake water.

Best to educate yourself and to be cautious.

I have friends from Vancouver who are fishermen who speak very highly of this place as well!

BC Parks, FLNRO and Interior Health are aware of this issue.

Great place for ice fishing in the winter. Love the rustic cabins. Great service and easy check in and out.

Blooms like these are not permanent, often short-lived, happen naturally from time to time and localize in pockets on the lake.

There is currently a blue-green algae (Cyanobacteria) bloom on Tunkwa Lake. A few of our cows have been killed and Ted witnessed a dog being exposed yesterday while someone was walking there.

I was there this Summer; it's peaceful, very well-maintained, with friendly staff & residents. The occasional wild horses, coyotes, & loons were also a treat to behold.

This stuff is deadly to cattle, pets and humans if ingested.
